RareScanner for WoW

RareScanner 12.1.5.5 pings when a rare mob or a treasure is nearby and marks it on the map. The command is /rarescanner. The author's gallery is large, which tells you the addon is a scanner with many filters, not a single alert sound.

Compatibility and installation

It targets retail, including the current Midnight client. I am not claiming a Forever build. Classic rares are a different map. Installing the retail zip into _classic_era_ will not produce vanilla alerts.

HandyNotes is the other map pin addon and it stays on the big table, without its own page, because I do not have enough distinct fields. RareScanner's job is the alert. HandyNotes' job is a library of pins. They can run together.

If you get no sound, check the filter for the continent you are on before you reinstall. The usual miss is a filter, not a broken folder. The toc name still has to match the folder or the addon will not appear in the list at all.

Rare alerts and map datasets are separate pieces of information. Compare an absent alert with the continent and filters documented for that build before using a screenshot from another patch as evidence of a defect. A map pin can describe a recorded location without proving that the rare is currently present, and an alert is not a live server population report.

Questions

Where do I put RareScanner?

Unzip so the folder RareScanner sits in that client's Interface/AddOns directory. The folder table lists the client path.

Does RareScanner have a Midnight build?

Works on 12.1.5
