Install WoW addons from GitHub
Use the release asset. A source archive can have a different layout from the packaged release; locate the TOC-bearing directory.
What to download
Open the author's releases page. Download the zip they attached to the tag. WowUp can install from a GitHub link when you paste it. That is still the release, not a clone of the repository.
Polestar and OpenMap are the Forever examples. Their toc files live in the packaged zip. A source download can add a branch name or require packaging; locate the TOC-bearing directory before installation.
After the zip is in the right flavor folder, the rest matches the manual page. GitHub does not change the nested-folder rule.
Questions
Should I clone the repository?
Not for playing. Clone if you are editing the addon. Install the release zip if you want it to load.
